Closed-cell vs. open-cell, in plain terms: open-cell materials (fiberglass, mineral wool) insulate well and breathe, which makes them great on dry hot lines. Send your pipe dimensions and the insulation thickness that the engineer specified. Most systems run polyiso, which we supply 25/50 fire-rated for indoor piping or standard for the outdoor runs heading to the chillers.
