Who We Are

Premier Mechanical Products has been a trusted insulation manufacturer since 2012. Founded by Ashley Tumberger, what began as a home-based operation grew into a full-scale manufacturer in 2018, and today we machine mechanical insulation parts out of our own 30,000-square-foot facility.

What sets us apart is simple: customer service. When you have a problem, you call us, and we don’t say no. Whether you’re dealing with tight lead times or need to insulate something a little outside the box, we work with you to find a solution. That problem-solving approach is why our customers stay loyal year after year, and it’s what led us to develop products like TumTUFF®, engineered for large-bore chilled water piping after a customer’s insulation system failed. For anyone looking for an insulation manufacturer who’ll actually help solve the problem in front of you, we let our work speak for itself.

Cost of Failure

On large-bore chilled water systems, the weight is enormous. Traditional supports usually sit on a steel clevis hanger that wraps the pipe and diverts the load around the insulation. But when pipes sit on uneven stands or I-beams, often spread 20 feet apart instead of the standard 10, they create a pinch point that crushes the insulation right where it carries the weight.

Once that insulation is crushed, it fails. On a cold system, the vapor barrier ruins, and condensation takes over, which is how a single weak point turns into a full system failure. That’s what a good insulation manufacturer helps you catch before it starts: by looking at your load, your spacing, and your conditions, then building a support that actually holds up once the system fills with water.

Our Process

Working with us as your insulation manufacturer is straightforward and built around getting your system right the first time. From the specs you send to the finished parts, our process is designed to match the engineer’s requirements and turn your project around fast.

1

Specs and Requirements

You give us your pipe dimensions and the insulation thickness that the engineer specified. Most systems use polyisocyanurate, which we can supply 25/50 fire-rated for any indoor piping that requires it, or standard for the outdoor runs heading to the chillers.

2

Verify Special Conditions

Before we cut anything, we confirm the details that affect fit. If the piping is heat-traced, that has to be verified with us up front so we can groove it out or cut the ID a little larger, letting the insulation close properly around it.

3

Fabrication and Vapor Barrier

We fabricate to your exact pipe curvature, with the right vapor barrier for the job. Parts come standard with an ASJ jacket, or we can apply a zero-perm jacket to keep water vapor out, since a compromised vapor barrier is the most common point of failure.

4

Fast Turnaround

Depending on the footage, we turn most polyiso work around in just a few days. The product handles everything from 260 degrees down to minus 290, and for ammonia refrigeration and the food industry, we also fabricate TumTUFF® block and polystyrene to match.
