Insulrap 30: The Best Vapor Barrier for Outdoor Piping
Outdoor systems have a problem indoor ones don’t: fasteners. When metal jacketing is screwed onto piping outside, every screw is a potential puncture straight through the barrier.
Insulrap 30 solves that. It’s a rubberized, bituminous barrier, so when a screw goes through it, the material wraps and seals around the screw instead of leaving an open hole. That self-sealing quality is what makes it one of the best barriers for outdoor use. One note: you can’t use that screw-fastened approach over an ASJ or ZeroPerm barrier, so the barrier has to be chosen for how the system gets built.
